Watch: Strange UFO filmed falling from sky during storm in Texas

An overnight worker in Texas was left scratching his head after he inadvertently filmed a curious object that mysteriously plummeted from the sky during a particularly violent storm. The peculiar scene reportedly took place earlier this month as the witness, named Conner, was on the clock at a meat packing plant in the city of Amarillo. Intriguingly, the young man says that he was overcome by a sudden urge to go outside and begin filming as the inclement weather swept across the area. "I can't say that I have encountered anything like this before," he mused, "I've never really recorded the skies or anything and that day of the storm I really felt the need to record."

What exactly compelled Conner to start filming is a mystery as is the very weird object that he ultimately wound up recording with his cell phone. To that end, the young man's video shows the night sky being briefly illuminated by a lightning bolt and, just as it begins to grow dark again, an anomalous streak of light plunges to the ground at a seemingly incredible speed. The strange object somewhat resembles a meteor falling from the sky, which Conner put forward as a possibility. "Best case scenario it was a meteor because I’ve never seen one," the witness said, "worst case scenario, an alien invasion."

Conner's wide-ranging assessment of the video has largely been echoed by others viewers of the footage with many agreeing that the unidentified falling object does look like an incoming meteor, while some imaginative observers have embraced the proverbial extraterrestrial hypothesis for what the aerial anomaly might have been. Additional suggestions for the nature of the oddity include ball lightning and, perhaps the most prosaic of them all, rain that appeared alien in nature thanks to a trick of light and shadow.
