Watch: Security camera films shadow person?

An eerie piece of footage captured by a home security camera shows a puzzling shadowy form that the homeowner suspects could be some kind of sinister entity. The odd video was reportedly filmed earlier this month outside of a house in an unnamed community in New York state at around 3:30 in the morning. In the footage, a dark shadow suddenly appears at the edge of the lawn and undulates across the grass before disappearing off camera.

According to the homeowner, the nature of the shadow is of some dispute in his family as he suspected that it could be the ghost of a girl in their neighborhood who had passed away, but his relatives suggest it was something demonic because they claimed to have smelled sulfur throughout the house the following day. Their assessment may be based on a previous incident in which the man allegedly found his son cowering under his bed after what he said was an encounter with a "shadow man" that was "strangling and hurting him."

While the boy's story is undoubtedly quite chilling and would seemingly lend credence to the possibility that the anomaly on the video is an evil entity, the lack of background details surrounding the fantastic tale raised eyebrows among more skeptical observers. To that end, some viewers have suggested that the 'shadow being' in the footage is merely a bug made to look monstrous by the camera and that the story was fabricated afterwards to give the video a dramatic flair.
