Watch: Odd UFO filmed over Long Island

A motorist on Long Island was left scratching his head when he spotted a perplexing UFO silently floating across the sky. The strange sighting reportedly occurred this past Sunday as the witness, who opted to be identified only as 'J.B.,' and his son were driving near the town of Islip. As they were cruising along, the pair were surprised when they noticed that, in an otherwise clear sky, a puzzling white object had appeared on the horizon (seen in the video below). The duo were so mystified by what they were watching that J.B. actually pulled over to the side of the road so that they could get a better look at the anomaly as well as film it with his cell phone.

"It was just something that was so unusual that you had to stop and look," J.B. later mused. According to the witness, he was not the only motorist who was baffled by the sight as several other drivers also pulled over to look at the object. J.B. eventually got back into his car and attempted to follow the UFO, but ultimately lost sight of it. The witness went on to recall that "my first reaction was a spy balloon, because it looked like a sophisticated thing. It wasn't somebody's drone that somebody just made in their backyard."

That said, J.B. also observed that "this thing had like transparency, like some kind of vapor around it that fell off, a little piece of it, like floating." While there seem to have been multiple witnesses who saw the odd object, local authorities indicated that they did not receive any reports concerning the UFO. As for what the object could have been, some viewers online have echoed J.B.'s initial assessment that it was some kind of spy craft, while others posited that perhaps it was alien in nature. Meanwhile, skeptics argue that the object could have simply been an ordinary balloon or a white trash bag that somehow wound up aloft. With that in mind, what do you make of the peculiar sighting?
