A pair of intriguing videos filmed at Lake Champlain show what may be the site's legendary 'monster,' Champ, swimming through the water. The remarkable sighting reportedly occurred on the evening of June 11th in the community of Port Henry, New York. Witness Thomas Scozzafava spotted the anomaly while looking out at the lake from a hill in the community. Realizing he was seeing something unusual, the retired town supervisor for the community of Moriah smartly captured two videos (featured above) of the wondrous moment with his cell phone.

Longtime Champ researcher Katy Elizabeth, who alerted C2C to the recent sighting, indicated that Scozzafava's "higher vantage point" was particularly fortuitous in that it allowed for a better view of the lake, which is what led to him noticing the anomalous animal. While it is uncertain if the witness spotted Lake Champlain's resident 'monster,' she mused that the sighting and footage are particularly intriguing due to the size and movement of the mystery creature. "The serpentine animal appears to be much larger than an otter or sturgeon," Elizabeth explained, "the second video shows the creature moving much faster than these animals known to inhabit the lake."

Looking to "rule out any known phenomenon in the lake" and to get a better understanding of the size of the anomalous animal, the Champ researcher has devised a rather clever experiment. At some point soon, Elizabeth plans to take her research vessel, Kelpie III, to where the weird creature was seen surfacing. An associate stationed at the spot where Scozzafava saw the possible 'monster' will film the scene "to get an idea for scale size and then do a side-by-side comparison."
