Video: Lake Champlain Monster celebrated with new exhibit at Vermont museum
A new permanent exhibit at a renowned nature and science museum in Vermont celebrates the legendary Lake Champlain Monster. The sizeable showcase, dubbed 'Champ: America's Lake Monster,' recently opened at the ECHO Center in Burlington. More than a year of work reportedly went into the development and creation of the three-level exhibit that features as its centerpiece "the largest and most realistic sculpture of Champ ever created."
Among the exhibit's features is 'Champ Through the Ages: From Monster to Mascot,' an enlightening interactive timeline that traces the evolution from the creature from 'fantastical tales spun by ancient seafarers' to its present status as a beloved legend of the region. Another area of the exhibit presents guests with what is deemed the best evidence for the elusive cryptid, along with expert opinions on its possible existence, so that they can decide whether they are a 'Believer or Skeptic.'
"We are so proud of this exhibit," declared ECHO’s Creative Director Carolyn Crowley, "we hope this experience shows visitors why Champ is our most famous animal ambassador and inspires them to support protecting Lake Champlain." At the very least, the awesome showcase deservedly elevates the legendary 'monster' to a level nearly on par with its Scottish cryptid counterpart, to which it has long played second fiddle.
