UFO landing in São Vicente - UFO lands and leaves marks on the ground

One of the most intriguing cases of Brazilian ufology occurred on October 1st, 1995, when a UFO landed leaving marks on the ground and traces of radiation on objects. This landing incident investigated by ufologists of the National Institute of Aerospace Phenomena (INFA), is among the most expressive and authentic cases of this type, occurred in São Vicente, in the state of São Paulo.

At around 23.00hrs the fishermen Fernando Beserra and Wilson da Silva Oliveira gathered their fishing nets when, aboard their boat, they watched with alarm the landing, a few meters away, of a heavily lighted UFO on Ilha do Major island.

At the beginning of the observation the two fishermen thought that it was a balloon, but when the object approached at a very great speed they noticed that they were faced with an anomalous phenomenon.

"When the light was over our heads, it changed direction and went to an islet, where it landed. In the lower part of the device there were spinning lights”, reported Fernando Beserra.

Terrified Wilson Oliveira said: “I almost died of fear. I hid in the bottom of the boat”.

The brightness of the flying instrument was a yellowish hue and was so intense that the two frightened fishermen tried to flee, but the engine of the vessel stopped as the UFO passed over them.

“We made about ten attempts until the engine picked up, then we left quickly. We could see, in flight, that the object landed on a small island located between the meanders of the mangroves of the Piaçabuçu river”, reported the fisherman Fernando.

A detail reported at the time to the team of investigators was that the flying saucer made no sound and the light produced by the object was so intense that the fishermen observed the crabs coming out of the hole on the other side of the river.

After the scare, Fernando and Wilson assure that they arrived at home and told the events to their relatives and could not sleep, although they had taken water with sugar in the attempt to calm down.

At dawn, the next day, the two fishermen returned to the scene, armed and noticed a circular mark. It was a circle of 5,5m in diameter, where the vegetation was dry, twisted and level, clockwise.

Four marks of rectangular support legs were also found, each measuring 10 x 15 centimeters. These markings of the flying object's landing gear were proportionately distributed and sank to a 1,50cm depth.

The fishermen returned to the city and reported it to the reporters of the newspaper "The Tribuna" of Santos, who broadcast a story about the strange episode on 10/08/1995.

During the field investigation carried out by members of the National Research of Aerospace Phenomena (INFA) were filming, photographing, measuring, making molds in plaster of the shoes, soil and vegetation collection, in addition to the reconstitution of the event by means of interview to the witnesses. A colorful drawing of the UFO was also performed by one of the witnesses.

During field research, the case was classified as being a Close Encounter of the Second kind, due to the following characteristics:

- Mechanical effect, characterized by the mark printed on the ground and by the crumpled and broken vegetation in the place. The vegetation has suffered an excessive burning of heat from the light;

- EM (electromagnetic) effects that caused the boat to stop operating. Then the electrical components of the boat, such as the alternator, suffered damage becoming burnt out. Subsequently, the tools and metal parts of the boat presented a corrosion that did not exist before;

- Physiological effect on witnesses. Witnesses complained of eye irritation and diarrhea.

The soil collected at the time underwent analysis to verify possible changes in PH. However, it did not reveal anything abnormal in PH. But in some tests involving planting seeds, it was found, curiously, that in the soil samples obtained within the burnt area the seeds germinated easily and those planted in the samples harvested outside the circle did not germinate and were attacked by fungi.

In most landing cases investigated worldwide, soil sterility occurs. However, in a small portion of cases of this type, the opposite occurs, that is, a fertilization in the field. And this is what happened in this case!

“A bottle cap found on the site presented a double electromagnetic/magnetic field”, one of the ufologists in the case, Mário dos Santos Filho, said after taking measurements on the spot.

It was also found that the marks of the landing gear were not identical, but they had some similarities in their structure. The fact that they were not the same, was decisive in order to discard, at the time, the hypothesis of fraud with the use of a mold.

Also, by the type of pressure in the soil and considering the terrain of mangrove, it was determined that each shoe would have the weight of approximately 25 kilos. Therefore, the craft would have only 100 kilos of total weight. However, the researchers hypothesized that the UFO would be heavier than this measurement and that it must have realized that the terrain was soft and only settled, not putting all its weight on the ground.

It became clear to the researchers that the marks were not from conventional helicopters or aircraft. Also, there was no camp site during the weekend and the Second Hunters Battalion, which usually promotes training in the woods, later reported that it was not there and much less along the Piaçabuçu River.

The Santos Military Air Base was consulted and also informed that it was not in the place at the time of the sighting.

Eighteen years later, during the program on the History Channel, the two fishermen confirmed the same details observed in 1995 and said in addition to the narrative of the case that their health had been affected since that time, having to move away from fishing. They even presented medical examinations verifying this reality.

In addition and confirming that the UFOs were in that region in October 1995, the investigators investigated another case of sighting on Praia do Indaiá that occurred the day after landing and during the month of October of that year there were several occurrences of unidentified lights in the region.
