On the third night of duty the witness was instructed to take over the night G shift for a member of the Security patrol, who had gone sick. This involved keeping watch over the Airbase from a 25ft concrete tower---one of six, that lined the inside of a corridor encircling the perimeter of the Airbase. After being transported to the site he climbed up the ladder and settled down for the night. As night descended, he stood there, unable to even see the next tower, due to the dark and foggy conditions. He became aware of an area of clearing that stretched out from the fence bordering a dense forest, which he found for some strange reason, very unsettling, although he couldn’t identify why he felt this way. At about 6.00am he was sitting on the floor inside the tower, reading a book by flashlight when suddenly he heard the unmistakable sound of happy children’s voices, rising and falling, as if borne on the wind, rather than a fixed source. Puzzled he went out onto the catwalk and peered into the darkness, feeling perplexed rather than frightened. All of a sudden, the voices stopped, he was about to re-enter the tower when in that split second, the voices were all around him---so close and so loud like a school playground. With his heart racing he made his way down the ladder to the ground. The voices were just as loud. He felt surrounded…then they began to fade away, leaving him struck and amazed by what he regarded as a privileged experience.

Another serviceman reports he and others were carrying out some routine work to an F-5 aircraft, parked on the runway---a job that should have been completed in an hour. When the man assigned to work on the aircraft failed to make the telephone call, requesting a lift back from the hangar a search went out to find him. They found him sitting in the aircraft, as white as a sheet, with the canopy closed. Although he was asked many times what he had seen, he declined, saying that it had frightened him so much he refused to go anywhere near that location again. It was later discovered that the man had seen a terrifying hairy humanoid, which had walked past the aircraft.

There was also an incident involving two mechanics who were working on an aircraft parked on the north side of the base, one of whom was so frightened by the appearance of a ‘strange hairy creature’ that he jumped into the cockpit of the aircraft and refused to get out for some time. Another night Sergeants Randi Lee and Jackson were on patrol with their two dogs when they saw movement near the towers and called the main gate to check if any workmen were still on site. When told not, they asked for a truck response team to assist with searching the area. As they approached a tower, they came face to face with a hairy figure.

The dogs stopped in their tracks, absolutely terrified, frantically trying to get away. One of the handlers urged the dog to attack the intruder but was bitten by his own animal---that’s how frightened the dogs were. The truck arrived just in time to see the creature, whatever it was, climbing over the security fence, where it was last seen entering the North Woods.

Wesley Uptegrove was the NCOIC of a group of three men and their dogs, charged with guarding bunkers, underneath which were stored nuclear warheads within a large, fenced area. One foggy night Wesley received a call; there was an intruder within the perimeter and shots had been fired. He tore out in his truck and sped towards the location of the shooting. Seeing a figure in the fog, he pulled over, thinking it was one of his guards. He rolled down the window and was screamed at full in the face by what can only be described as a man-like bipedal creature. He almost wet himself with fear. In an instant the creature ran off at incredible speed and Wesley drove after it. Within moments it had sped past another of the guards who also fired upon it; he missed due to the fact he was practically dragged backwards by his guard dogs that were yelping and straining to flee in the opposite direction. The third guard and his dogs were running towards the scene when they turned the corner of a bunker only to be intercepted by the creature running at full speed. As his dogs wailed, the creature hit the taut leashes and pulled them away from his grasp, lacerating a good deal of skin from the unfortunate man’s forearm in the process. Wesley and the rest of the men witnessed this creature make fantastic, running bounds across the grounds before leaping over two tall well-spaced barbed wire fences in a single bound. It disappeared into the surrounding woods.

The creature was vaguely described as hairy, approximately 5ft 9ins in height, and had intelligent human-like eyes, a flat nose, and large ears. The teeth were large but not fanged. The lower face was rounded in a way that suggested the look of a walrus. The face was narrow around the eyes, but the head flared out again at the top. It had very muscular, frog-like thighs, with what appeared to be reversed articulated legs like a horse. Incredibly, Wesley and his fellow airmen also witnessed a floating apparition on the very same night they encountered the weird hairy creature.
