Soldier's lifelong Sasquatch encounters from Alaska to Kentucky

In 1981, a young Army private stationed at Fort Wayne, Alaska, witnessed a massive, hair-covered figure on a mountainside—an encounter locals called the “Hairy Man.” Decades later, in Kentucky, the same man began hearing nightly whoops and screams and stumbled upon a chilling bone pile deep in the woods.

"I am a retired Army S.F.C. In 1981, at Fort Wayne, Alaska, I was an 18-year-old Private. We were there for extreme cold weather training. One day, we went up to one of the high mountains behind the base, and it took us three hours to reach the top in January.

After we set up our tent, we were able to walk around the camp area. While exploring, we started hearing loud whoops and screams. At about 150 meters away, we saw a HUGE black figure walking along the side of the mountain. It didn’t have a backpack or any clothes on, except for a hairy jumpsuit. As a young Private, I initially thought it was a bear.

Four days later, we returned to Fort Wayne and had two days off. Being a ladies' man, I met a native Alaskan woman, whose mother managed the bar where we were hanging out. I began telling her about what I had seen, and her mother overheard us. She mentioned, 'Bears are not out now,' and what I saw was a 'Hairy Man.' Curious, I asked, 'What's that?' My girlfriend explained, 'That's what we call a Sasquatch.' I responded, 'Okay, what's that?' She then gave me a book about it, though I don’t remember the author, and that was how I first learned about Sasquatch.

Fast forward to 2021. Behind my house in Kentucky, during late March and the first two weeks of April, I began to hear whoops and screams late at night, around 10 PM to 2:30 AM. This has happened every year since, and I expect it will occur again soon.

Last July, while riding my horse in the woods behind my house, my horse started acting skittish and tried to turn around. I dismounted and tied him to a tree, then walked about 25 feet ahead. There, I found a lot of bones: at least four deer, a coyote, about five rabbits, and a couple of turkeys. At that moment, I had a strong feeling that I needed to leave the area, and so I did. That's my story."
