Series of mysterious cattle mutilations being investigated by authorities in Texas
Authorities investigating a cattle mutilation case in Texas soon realized that they have a much larger mystery on their hands when they subsequently received five more reports of similar suspicious slayings. The unsettling series of animal deaths came to light on Wednesday when the Madison County Sheriff's Office took to social media to alert residents to the odd situation. They explained that it began when a rancher found one of their cows lying dead on the ground and, upon closer inspection, discovered that the animal's tongue had been removed and it had sustained cuts around the mouth that were described as being done "with apparent precision." However, this was just the start of the weirdness unfolding in Madison County.
The sheriff's office went on to detail how there was no blood spilled at the crime scene, no sign that the animal struggled, no tracks of any kind around the site, and, eerily, "no predators or birds would scavenge the remains of the cow, leaving it to decay untouched for several weeks." The rather 'classic' cattle mutilation case has now turned into something of a flap as, they revealed, "while looking into the longhorn-cross’ death, five other similar occurrences involving four adult cows and one yearling were reported." These cases were unnervingly similar to the initial incident as all of the animals sustained cuts around their mouths and had their tongues removed with surgical precision.
"Each incident occurred in different locations, pastures, and herds," they said, while noting that "just like the first, there were no signs of struggle or disturbance in the grass, no blood spill, and no noticeable tracks," and the remains did not attract any scavengers. Indicating that, as of now, the six cases are unsolved, the sheriff's office outright suggested that they are connected to the infamous cattle mutilation phenomenon, observing that "multiple similar incidents have been reported across the United States and we are actively coordinating with other agencies to find answers." Given the history of the mystery, one suspects that the perpetrators will ultimately manage to evade justice yet again as they have somehow done for decades.
