Saucers and beings in West Kazakhstan, USSR
Location: near Shevchenko, West Kazakhstan (USSR)
Date: 1965 Time: before dawn
The 19 year old witness, Alekseev Vitaly Viktorovich, at the time worked as a hydrometeorological observer during an expedition to West Kazakhstan. He had been instructed to conduct hydro – and meteorological observations in a deserted area on hundred kilometers north of the city of Shevchenko. The place was desolate. Trucks with water and fuel arriving at the drilling site once every two or three days. They had to bring in food to last for a month. The witnesses usually lived by hunting area game. At a distance of 300-350m from his post there was a spring where Saigas (antelopes) came to drink. During the rains, water filled the nearby dry bed and formed small lakes. There he kept an eye out for his prey. He had one favorite place among the rocks, wormwood bushes and camel thorns.
One morning before dawn, as he approached his hunting site he spotted the top of some strange device from behind a hillock. At first he thought the drilling rigs had arrived and that it was part of the equipment. But as he approached and climbed the hill, the panorama expanded and he was surprised to see that it was an apparatus completely unknown to him. Several figures stood in a group near it. At a distance, about fifty meters away, there was another device, much smaller in size. Next to this device there were also figures. At the time the witness had never heard of UFOs, he wasn’t into science fiction so his first thought was “spies”. He got down on all fours, crawled to a place where he usually hunted the Saigas and began to observe the scene. He felt no fear, as he began to observe, having previously loaded his double-barreled shotgun with cartridges. After some time, he realized that what he was witnessing had nothing to do with spies or espionage.
Both devices were dark gray in color and disc shaped, with a dome on top. He was about 80 to 90m away so he couldn’t see any exact details. The large object was 15-16m in diameter and had a height of about 8-9m. The smaller object had a diameter of 5-6m and a height of 2.5-3m. The figures standing next to the objects were unusually tall. They were wearing tight-fitting clothing, which, it seemed to the witness, glowed slightly. They had no idea that the witness was watching and continued to go about their business. It seemed to him that the creatures standing near the large object were talking, but he couldn’t hear what they were saying. The group at the other device was performing some work around it. Sometimes he could see a flashing light, he could also hear a sound, either a hissing or a buzzing sound.
After some time, another creature came out of the large object and approached the first group of figures standing. They all turned to him; he apparently told them something. Then the person who approached bent down, took a pebble, turned it over in his hand and, unexpectedly threw it into the lake (all this was very human). This figure stood out somewhat among those around him because of the color of his clothing; they were greenish. All this lasted no more than 5-6 minutes. Suddenly, another creature came out of the large object and said something to the others. Everyone standing by the devices turned in the witness’ direction. After standing and looking towards him for a few seconds. The creatures next to the smaller object began collecting the equipment and taking their instruments with them inside the craft. The witness could hear loud noises at times, and ringing sounds. Two more figures appeared from a nearby hillock and also entered the small craft which then rose noisily, flew across the river bed and hovered between the witness and the large object. At this point, the witness felt a little frightened.
At this time, the larger object also took off. Both remained motionless for some time. A haze formed below each one of them, like over a road on a hot day. Then both devices began to move towards the mountains. The haze under the devices grew stronger and began to envelop their hulls. Gradually the devices disappeared into the haze or mist, which melted after 2-3 seconds. Having decided to inspect the landing site, he began to walk down the hill. And before he even reached the riverbed, he began to experience difficulties in moving, and then he was forced to stop completely. He then returned to his observation area and sat there for a long time. So his hunt ended and returned to his post. He suffers from palatitis (inflammation of the palate) so at lunch time he limited himself to just liquids. After lunch he went back to the landing site and wandered around there for a long time. He looked around the stones, soil and plants but found nothing. It never occurred to him that the creatures could have been aliens from an extraterrestrial civilization. The next day he went to the city of Shevchenko and told the police there what happened. According to the witness different people calmly listened to him several times. Then they advised him not to ‘overheat’ and ‘drink less.’ The witness did not drink alcohol.
Returning to his post, he immediately went back to the landing site. It was quiet there and there were no traces of what had happened. Over the next two months, while he was there, the Saigas no longer came to drink there. And his cartridges, which were in the barrel and in the cartridge belt, had completely deteriorated. The gunpowder turned into brown powder that emanated a pungent odor. At first, he tried to talk about it, but everyone laughed and he eventually stopped talking about it, although he remembers all the smallest details of what happened as if it had happened yesterday.
