Renowned astrophysicist: “We have to stop reacting to UFOs as a threat.” Is he right?

Dr Jacques Valée.

In Brief

  • The Facts:
    • Renowned UFO researcher, scientist, mathematician, and astrophysicist Dr. Jacques Vallée made an appearance on the Joe Rogan show in late 2020.

    • He expressed that the phenomenon should not solely be perceived as a threat, which the military industrial complex seems to be doing.

  • Reflect On:
    • Why, after years of secrecy and ridicule, are multiple governments and military agencies starting to publicly disclose the reality of the UFO phenomenon?

    • With such a poor track record of transparency and honesty, can we really trust these sources for accurate information and a holistic portrayal of the phenomenon?

Renowned UFO researcher, scientist, mathematician, and astrophysicist Dr. Jacques Vallée  made an appearance on the Joe Rogan show in late 2020 to discuss the UFO phenomenon. On the show, he stated that “we have to stop reacting to intrusions by UFOs as a threat.”

He went on to state,

“I mean that’s the whole thing behind this new task force, as much as I respect, you know, the task force, my colleagues and I want to cooperate with them to the extent that we can bring information or resources to what they do. But there is more, this is not, should not be looked at specifically as a threat…With the phenomenon that we observe, if they wanted to blow up those F18s they would do it. Obviously that’s not what it’s all about, and this idea of just labelling it all as a threat because it’s unknown, that’s the wrong idea.” - Dr. Jacques Valée

The “task force” he mentions refers to To The Stars Academy (TTSA), who is working with the US Department of Defense to disclose the reality of the UFO phenomenon to the public. The military jets he refers to comes from multiple encounters released by the TTSA organization in cooperation with the Pentagon. It’s one of many documented examples of these types of encounters that are not only visually observed, but also tracked on radar.

Is Valée correct in his assumption that we shouldn’t react to these objects as a threat? Those who have been in the position “to know” the most about the phenomenon have, throughout history, shared the same perspective. For example, as far back as 1947, General Nathan Twining, who later went on to be the Air Force Chief of Staff, explained the nature of the observed phenomenon.

“The phenomenon reported is something real and not visionary or fictitious…The reported operating characteristics such as extreme rates of climb, maneuverability, (particularly in roll), and the actions which must be considered evasive when sighted or contacted by friendly aircraft and radar, lend belief to the possibility that some of the objects are controlled either manually, automatically or remotely.” - General Nathan Twining, NARCAP Technical Report

Former Canadian Defense Ministier Paul Hellyer claimed that the nature of the phenomenon was benevolent, and that it is unfortunate that the protocol within the military is/was “shoot first and ask questions after.” One can connect this statement to the fact that, in March 2019, astrophysicist Eric W. Davis, who spent years working as a consultant for the Pentagon UFO program (he is now a defense contractor) gave a classified briefing to the Defense Department on what he called “off-world vehicles not made on this earth.”

Dr. David Clarke, an investigative journalist, reader and lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University in England who was also the curator for The National Archives UFO Project from 2008–13 has been vocal about governments and their desire to ‘capture’ this type of technology.

In 2018, he told the Daily Mail,

“Even though they have been partly censored they can’t conceal the fact the UK military were interested in capturing UFO technology or what they coyly refer to as ‘novel weapon technology’…And the files reveal they were desperate to capture this technology – wherever it came from – before the Russians or the Chinese got hold of it first….Although this was 1997, Russia was still regarded as an undefeated enemy with a weapons programme regarded as a threat to the West.” - Dr. David Clarke

Former senior scientist at NASA, Dr. Richard F. Haines has explained how the phenomenon seems to perform evasive maneuvers to avoid our aircraft as to not create any sort of potential for a collision. This is similar to what Twining mentioned. Dr. Haines is now the Chief Scientist at NARCAP, an organization that has investigated, documented, and analyzed aviation safety-related observations and incidents that have involved UFOs since 1999.

Colonel Ross Dedrickson, a former US Air Force Colonel who had a long stint with the US Atomic Energy Commission went as far as to claim that some of these objects were extraterrestrial and that they were concerned with the preservation of our planet.

Hermann Oberth, the founding father of rocketry and astronautics, also known as the ‘father of Spaceflight’ stated his belief that “flying saucers are real” and that “they are space ships from another solar system.” He believed that they were “manned by intelligent observers who are members of a race that may have been investigating our Earth for centuries.”

He wrote these words in “Flying Saucers Come From A Distant World”, The American  Weekly, Oct 24, 1954 and expressed that ‘the UFOs are a kind of sentinel, here simply to observe and report; because a humankind which is as gifted as inventors and researchers as we are, yet has remained politically and morally on our stage of development, constitutes a threat to the entire cosmos.’

Another point of those who subscribe to the benevolent theory is the fact that the existence of these objects has been documented for thousands of years, yet no hostile action has been taken. For example, here is an example of 5000 year old cave art depicting “sky beings” made by native aborigines in Australia. Similar and older paintings have been found in India.

Fast forward to 1561, where an event that took place in Nuremberg, Germany was documented by the printing press. On that day, a number of “cylindrical objects” appeared in the sky. Then, from the objects emerged small round objects, and disk shaped objects that were red, black orange and blue. Below is an image of the Ariel display that was printed.

Valée published his work “Wonders In The Sky” that provides more examples.

There are thousands of examples. Another one comes in the form of a ninth century Latin passage which, a thousand years later, is still inspiring the works of multiple UFO researchers around the globe.  Liber contra insulam vulgi opinionem is the name of the document. In this document, the Archbishop of Lyons complained about a persistent belief among the French peasantry regarding a “certain region called Magonia from whence come ships in the clouds.” The Archbishop even said three men and a woman who had claimed to have “fallen from these same ships” had been stoned to death, an event he personally witnessed.

As much as the lore of the phenomenon is littered with benevolent stories from interesting people, as well as tens and thousands of supposed ‘contactees’ with similar stories of beings with a high moral compass, there’s also the opposite. Malevolent stories of people being taken against their will, cattle mutilations, human experimentation and the loss of life of military pilots who have been scrambled to intercept these objects are also present among the literature. One also has to factor in the possibility of psychological warfare experiments being conducted by governments, who have a long history of infiltrating UFO circles to spread disinformation.

For example, in his book, “Forbidden Science 4,” Vallée explains how he came in possession documents showing that forced “UFO abductions” were conducted by the CIA as psychological warfare experiments.

Furthermore, there is the possibility that multiple ‘beings’ and intelligent life forms may be, have been and are visiting us. They could be extraterrestrial, extradimensional, and who knows, may share this planet with us in some capacity?

It’s confusing to say the least, and the more you dive into the subject the less you feel you know. Having been a researcher in the field for more than a decade, I’ve talked to some very interesting people with verified backgrounds who have had long careers within the military industrial complex. I’ve come across both malevolent and benevolent perspectives. But my heart tells me there is ‘good’ out there, and treating this phenomenon as a potential threat, which multiple governments seem to be doing, is a big mistake. I agree with Dr. Jacques Valée.
