Records search unearths report of ghosts seen at London Underground station

A Freedom of Information request submitted to the agency that oversees London's transportation system uncovered a curious case in which a teenager claimed to have seen ghosts at one of the city's famed tube stations. The spooky account came about after an unnamed resident filed an inquiry with Transport for London wherein they asked for any documented accounts of "paranormal activity" logged by the government body over the last three years. In response, the agency conducted an extensive search of its records that resulted in only one case that fit the bill.

According to Transport for London, the sole incident involved "a distressed 15 year-old-boy at King’s Cross on the Metropolitan line in December 2023, who also mentioned that he had seen ghosts." In a testament to the thoroughness of their effort, the agency indicated that their archive search included the following keywords: ghost, paranormal, spirit, apparition, ghoul, phantom, poltergeist, and banshee. To that end, they noted that there were 155 cases involving the word 'spirit,' though those instances involved either alcoholic beverages or someone being in "good spirits."
