Possible Thunderbird seen near Table Rock Wyoming
I was recently contacted on Facebook about a possible Thunderbird sighting near Table Rock, Wyoming. For those who might not be familiar with the term Thunderbird let me give you a little more information.
Thunderbird is a term used in cryptozoology to describe large, bird-like creatures, generally identified with the Thunderbird of Native American tradition. These massive birds are normally described as being black in color and as having a wingspan between 12 and 18 ft. The fossil record does show that giant birds once existed but for the most part the Thunderbird is considered a myth. The only problem is that there continues to be sporadic sighting of this very large bird.
Here is the most recent possible sighting of a Thunderbird.
As I stated I got a private message from a man I will just call Joel. It seems a couple of his children were moving and had encountered this very large bird.
Here is what Joel said:
"Two more of my kids moved to Portland Ore. this last weekend. Ryan was following the Uhaul, when they were 2/3 across Wyoming Ryan text me and said he just seen the largest bird he has ever seen. He said it had a 15 foot wing span and it was black!
That it swooped down then went up. He said he could see the feathers on it . He looked it up and I think he seen a Thunderbird."
I followed up and wanted to know where the location was and about what time of day the sighting took place. Joel got back to me with the following information.
"On interstate just as it starts the 5 degree raise. I haven't looked on the map yet . I will text him and get the time ."
Next I ask Joel if anyone else seen it and for an update. I then got the following private message from Joel.
"Sorry, yes Ryan was driving following the Uhaul, he said he was on highway 80 passed Table Rock and was close to rocky steep terrain area! It was around 1:30 PM. He was the only one that seen it. My daughter was the one driving uhaul and didn't see it, Ryan said it was above Uhaul."
This would of been the first weekend in June, according to my understanding. After getting this report I when to our Sightings Map to cross reference any other possible sighting from the past.
We did not have any Thunderbird sighting in Wyoming but we had some near by in Montana, Colorado and some a longer distance in Nebraska. Please keep in mind, our map consist mainly of reports directly sent to us by the witness, so it is not all inclusive.
So, first we want to thank Joel and his family for contacting us and telling us about the sighting. Second we want to put this out so IF anyone else seen this possible Thunderbird they might contact us. If you seen a possible Thunderbird in Wyoming around the first weekend in June (2nd and 3rd), near Highway 80, then please contact us and let us know about it.
