Satellite sleuths recently spotted a dark disc-shaped anomaly in Antarctica, quickly fueling UFO speculation online. The feature, located about 90 miles inland and near the A. B. Dobrowolski Polar Station, appears half embedded in ice and resembles a classic saucer at first glance. However, scientists caution against jumping to extraterrestrial conclusions. According to glaciologist Professor Bethan Davies, the most likely explanation is a small lake formed within a rock basin. The darker water absorbs more solar radiation, melting surrounding snow and creating the illusion of a circular arc rather than evidence of a crashed UFO.
