Large winged humanoid observed over Lake Michigan near Ohio Street Beach in Chicago
On a warm Thursday evening, as storms rolled in from the west, a Chicago city employee witnessed a massive winged figure gliding above Lake Michigan near Ohio Street Beach. The sighting occurred just after 7:30 PM and left the witness shaken, puzzled, and deeply concerned. What followed was a quiet warning that these encounters may be far more widely recognized within City Hall than the public realizes. This report adds another layer to the ongoing wave of winged humanoid sightings that have gripped Chicago for over a decade.
"I would like to report an incident that occurred on Thursday, August 10th, at approximately 7:30 PM CT (local time) in Chicago. While I was out walking my dog and observing storm clouds approaching, I saw what I can only describe as a large owl in the sky above the lake, just offshore of Ohio Street Beach. It was flying in a circular pattern, seemingly riding thermals, gliding without flapping its wings much. I watched it for about a minute before it dipped down toward the shore and disappeared from view.
I waited for about five minutes, even walking half a block over to Lake Shore Drive in hopes of seeing it again from that vantage point. I saw nothing else, so I headed home, as a storm was approaching, and I didn’t want to get caught in the rain. I had heard many stories about these kinds of sightings before, but never thought I would experience one myself.
I don’t recall many details other than that it was a prominent, black figure with wings. It stood out against the sky, and it was clear that it was using its wings to maintain flight. I tried to rule out other possibilities, such as a larger-than-normal seagull or a hang glider, but none matched what I had witnessed.
I’m reporting this to you to contribute to your growing database of city sightings. I request that I not be contacted regarding this matter and that my name remain confidential. I am requesting this information because I work for the City of Chicago as administrative staff, and I do not want it to jeopardize my job. I sincerely want to share my sighting with you, but I cannot risk losing what I have worked many years to achieve.
I can tell you that these sightings have not gone unnoticed and have garnered significant attention. However, there are individuals in positions of power who want to keep the increasing number of sightings from becoming a public concern, as they fear it could scare away tourists during the summer. Please understand that these sightings are being taken seriously within City Hall."
COMMENTARY
This sighting fits a long-running pattern specific to the Lakefront corridor: a prominent, dark, winged figure gliding silently over Lake Michigan, often just before storms or during atmospheric instability. The witness emphasized controlled gliding, minimal flapping, and a near-effortless circular flight pattern, which matches numerous earlier reports from Montrose Beach, Navy Pier, and Oak Street Beach.
The emotional tone was restrained but tense. The witness was clearly unsettled and cautious, especially given their City Hall employment, and their statements about internal concern within city government align with similar private comments Lon has received from municipal workers over the past several years.
The behavior, size, and flight characteristics once again lean toward a biological entity exhibiting traits inconsistent with those of known bird species. The interdimensional or ultraterrestrial models remain viable given the recurring storm-adjacent appearances, navigational precision, and the persistent absence of physical evidence despite hundreds of documented sightings. NOTE: I receive between 10 and 20 calls daily from people living and working in the Chicago metro area who are concerned about these sightings. I always try to dispel any theories suggesting that this being represents a portent of disaster or bad news. While taking calls and emails from Chicago residents, I have also received inquiries from city workers and citizens connected to local government. Therefore, the witness's statement that “these sightings have not gone unnoticed within City Hall” does not surprise me. If this is indeed the case, we can only assume that the City of Chicago may have more information about this flying humanoid than we do. Lon
