This image is a still from footage of the Lake Van Monster that was taken by Unal Kozak. Kozak captured the footage in 1997 at Lake Van in eastern Turkey.

The footage appears to show what may be the head of the creature peeking up above the surface of the water. Before putting the footage public, Kozak had been interested in the creature for years and had investigated witness accounts of sightings. People think that the creature could be anything from a hoax to a hippopotamus to garbage floating in the water.
