Daytime sighting of a Yowie, Mariginiup, Western Australia

Date: February 2026

Time: Around 1/2pm but unsure exactly, my toddler was having a midday nap.

I was driving along Neaves road from Outback Splash (away from Bullsbrook direction). My toddler was asleep in the car after a morning in the pools. I drive this road fairly frequently.

Just beyond the 110km section about 50mtr in from the roadside, within someone's fenced property, I saw a big, hairy, dark brown or black, humanoid figure walking in the opposite direction that I was driving in. I only saw it for a few moments as I drove by and didn't want to go back or stop the car with my toddler sleeping in. But I've driven past many times since and not seen anything.

My first thought was what the ef? Then was that a giant Kangaroo? I grew up in Moore River so I know how big they can get. But the hair on this thing was so dark it couldn't have been a kangaroo. I thought of all the farm animals in the area but again seemed too tall for any of that.

It looked about the height of a decent sized gorilla or bear on hind legs compared to a human, but not as bulky/thick, it wasn't skinny or lanky, it was just sort of mid range. It was walking on two legs for sure.

I have always been into the paranormal etc since a teenager and heard all the cryptid stories and folklore but have never taken them seriously. For a moment I thought if I had to pick anything I would have said a bigfoot... The one cryptid I take the p*ss out of the most. I have never believed in bigfoot.

When I shared this story on my socials with friends someone said it sounds like a yowie. I googled it and 100% swear that's what I saw.
