Daylight luminous orb approaches witness and makes physical contact in Pennsylvania
Another possible UFO/UAP incident reported on the same day. (July 17, 2025.)
Daylight Luminous Orb Approaches Witness and Makes Physical Contact in Pennsylvania
From: Researcher Stan Gordon www.stangordon.info
On July 17, 2025, I received a call from a witness who just a brief time earlier had experienced something unusual. He told me he was still shaken by what had taken place. At about 10:20 AM, the man was driving in a rural area of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania about 25miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The weather at the time was sunny and about 79 degrees. Suddenly, a large shadow appeared above his vehicle.
The witness then sees moving straight down the center of the road, the solid shadow of a hundred-foot-long flat football shaped object moving slow and steadily. He heard no sound. He tried to bend down and look out the window to see what was above him, but seconds later the shadow was gone. He travels quickly down the road to get a clear view of the sky and sees nothing.
On July 19th, my research associate Jim Brown attended the Kecksburg UFO Festival. Jim had a display of some of the high-tech instrumentation he builds to investigate anomalist incidents. At that time, he told me that he had been contacted by a witness in the Pittsburgh area who reported a daylight close encounter with a solid luminous orb while in her yard. That incident also occurred on July 17, 2025, about thirty-five miles north of Pittsburgh. He later obtained more details of this interesting case. Jim’s investigation report will follow below.
A long History of Mystery Orb Encounters
Over the years, I have received information from widespread areas on cases concerning observations of these smaller spherical objects on the ground or just above the ground. I was aware of these cases in the 1960s and have referred to them as mini-UFOs. Today they are being referred to as orbs or balls of light. These objects range in size from a few inches to about a foot or two in diameter. They are often described as the size of golf balls, baseballs, or basketball size.
While often spherical, other configurations have been reported. These objects often are light sources of assorted colors. They sometimes look solid, while in other cases they look transparent or translucent. There have also been some reports of a swirling mass inside of the spheres.
There have been encounters with these objects pacing vehicles and entering them through open windows. There have been other cases of these objects also entering homes through open windows or hovering in front of windows and even tapping on the panes. In more recent years, I have reports of these mystery orbs appearing inside of homes and only a feet away from witnesses. Various physiological effects have been reported in some cases. I have been of the opinion for a long time that this is one of the most important aspects of the UFO/UAP mystery that has been somewhat overlooked.
The following is Jim Brown’s report on this very intriguing case.
Encounter With a Glowing Orb – July 17, 2025
Location: Residential area near Monaca, Pennsylvania
Date: July 17, 2025.
Time: About 2:30 – 3:00 PM. Time was based on her activities and best recollection as she did not check the clock at the time.
Description of Object: The witness describes it as”About the size of a basketball.” There were no details visible, no seams other indication it was a physical device, just a smooth surfaced glowing white sphere. When asked about the edges she said they were well defined against the background, with no signs of a vapor or mist around them. It was white and appeared to be glowing by its own light rather than reflecting the light around it. However, when asked about what she could see in regard to its light, even when it was against her she said she could not see that any light reflected from the object onto her clothing. (Need further clarification as this seems to be contradictory to a self-luminated object.)
Weather / Conditions: Temperature was about 80 degrees and moderate humidity. (No readings at the site, however weather reports showed about 65 % relative humidity from Pittsburgh Airport observations.) She stated it had rained earlier in the day and once the rain stopped, she decided to weed her garden. No one else was present at the time. She has neighbors on both sides of her location. Sky at the time was broken clouds, some sun. The report which follows is based on the witness’ testimony and outlines the events as they occurred.
On July 18, 2025, I received an E-Mail from the witness. She stated she was “Pushed” by a glowing white object while walking to her garden to do some work. She asked if I would be interested in hearing about her experience. I gave her my contact information and also told her to call me back. She left me a call-back number after she received my e-mail reply.

July 19, 2025 – I returned her call and after introductions, I asked her to relate to me what happened. The following is an edited transcript of the conversation. (More details to follow in the final summary.)
Jim: Can you describe exactly what happened?
Witness: “I was going out to my garden to do a bit of weeding. Rain earlier had softened up the ground which made it easier to pull them out. I was about half-way to the garden when I saw a glowing ball of light about five feet above my sidewalk blocking my way. I stopped and it began moving slowly directly toward me. I was somewhat afraid of it but hey, this is my yard, and I was not about to be intimidated so I stood still and watched as it approached. It stopped about two inches away. Then it moved closer and actually touched me. It started to push, and I began to back up a bit. It was then I fell backwards and landed on my back side. The ball raised up above me, floated there for a couple seconds then vanished. I don’t know if it flew off or just disappeared, either way it suddenly just wasn’t there anymore.
I assessed my injuries and found the only thing I suffered seemed to be a skinned elbow where it hit the pavement, I looked at where it touched me and saw no evidence of anything , I had heard about these white balls of light on TV so I Googled it and your name came up. I checked it out and that’s when I called you.”
I followed up with a series of questions and was able to draw out additional information about what she encountered and its effects.
Witness: “I didn’t notice anything on its surface, no marks, nothing. It just appeared white all around it. When it touched me, it felt metallic, but not stiff like steel. It almost seemed like it would give a bit as it made contact.” (When asked to compare it to a mylar party balloon, she said, ” No, No, much stiffer.”) ” It also felt cold, like it just came out of a refrigerator cold. Not panful cold, just cold to the touch.”
Witness: ” No sound at all, unless you count my dog was barking from in his kennel. Smells? The only thing I smelled was the flowers from my garden which was nearby. Come to think of it, that smell seemed a bit stronger than usual but not different from what I usually smell from the garden. As for electrical activity, I didn’t get shocked or anything like that. I didn’t notice any static electricity or anything like that either.”
I asked about the push itself. How much force was applied?
Witness: ” I guess it was more like a nudge. I was backing off as it moved with me. I felt like it was trying to get me to move, and I was just going along.”
Jim: In your first e-mail you used the word “Pushed”. Are you saying it pushed you down?
Witness: “Maybe I shouldn’t have said “Pushed”. It was continuing to be in contact, but I don’t think that it was actually forcing me back, rather just moving me along. I fell when I caught my heel on a raised piece of concrete, and I fell backward. That is when I injured my elbow. What I can’t say is how much force it might have applied had I actually resisted being pushed back. I guess we’ll never know that.”
I also inquired about any other effects from her encounter. Specifically, about any emotional effects or feelings of negativity. She responded: ” No, I went back out to the garden today to pick up where I left off. My elbow is a bit sore, but I weeded the flower bed and did what I planned to do yesterday. It has not caused me any emotional distress if that’s what you mean. I mentioned it to a couple family members who were at a loss to explain it. “
This phone interview covered some concerns about confidentiality levels I use and how they could be applied. She decided to place her case at level 2 which allows some information to be released.
I asked her if there was anything else she wanted to relate that we had not yet discussed. She said we had covered everything she could remember about it. I asked why she felt it had stopped her from going out to the garden. Her response was, “I don’t think it wanted me in my garden at this time.”
She could not think of any reason though. I advised her to be alert and if she found anything out there that she couldn’t explain to contact me and we would go from there. I also told her I would be checking back in a couple of days in case she had any concerns.
July 21, 2025, follow-up call. I had mentioned I was interested in seeing the area where the event had happened and she said her son was coming over and he would get pictures from overhead using his drone camera. He did so on Sunday, July 20. He sent the pictures to me, and I examined them for anything that might have contributed to the event. A tree partially blocked the view of the walk, and nearby buildings did not show any obvious causes for light reflections, etc. (Due to the angles and views from the camera I cannot release the pictures since they might be used to identify the exact location of her home as well as neighboring homes.)
I also spoke with one neighbor who was unable to provide any information. He was home at the time of the event but noticed nothing and was unaware anything had happened until he spoke with the witness.
A second follow upcall on July 24 did not reveal any new information. I asked about her elbow injury, and she said her daughter had bandaged it that night and after a couple of days the bandage was removed and aside from a few scratches it was healing well. (Daughter is a nurse). Her garden is doing good, the object did not seem to in any way affect her plants / flowers. Both she and her son have been working the flower beds and have not encountered any residue or other material that could not be explained. She said she would advise me if anything new happens. At this point I am carrying this case as “Unresolved”
