Video: Tarot-reading cat becomes online sensation

A cat in Washington State has become an online sensation thanks to his rather unusual gift: reading tarot cards. The fantastic feline, named Cole, reportedly revealed its soothsaying skills after being adopted by his owner, Emily Cook, who rescued him from the Humane Society of Tacoma. One day, to her profound surprise, the cat's new keeper noticed him using his paws to shuffle a tarot deck she had absentmindedly left on her couch. Taking the unexpected act even further, Cole then plucked specific cards from the pile and deposited them on the carpet with his mouth.

"I couldn't believe what I'd seen," Cook recalled, explaining that she subsequently used treats to encourage the cat's surprising soothsaying, which she contends is remarkably accurate. She specifically pointed to the feline 'finding' cards that eerily connected with some recent romantic troubles she had experienced. "There's too many coincidences," she marveled, "things you just can't ignore." As one might imagine, when word of a fortune-telling cat hit social media, a soothsaying star was born.

Cole's TikTok account currently boasts nearly 60,000 followers, and his tarot reading videos have amassed millions of views. Unfortunately for those seeking an in-person session with the peculiar cat, it would appear that Cole's work will remain online for the time being, as the feline is particularly skittish around strangers. Beyond that, Cook mused, "you can't really schedule an appointment with a cat. They're going to do what they want when they want."
