'Asparamancer' reveals 2025 forecast

A British psychic medium famous for using asparagus, of all things, to forecast the new year has issued her predictions for 2025. A popular personality with the British media thanks to her unorthodox divination method, Jemima Packington claims she can see into the future by studying how the vegetables fall after she tosses a bundle of them into the air. The Asparamancer, as she is affectionately known, has been credited with predicting a handful of major world events, such as the election of Donald Trump in 2016 and the passing of Queen Elizabeth in 2022. Packington reportedly kept the odd tradition alive this week when she performed her annual asparagus exercise and put forward her 2025 predictions.

As is often the case with the Asparamancer's prognostications, this year's batch is fairly vague and centers around trends more than specific events. To that end, for 2025, Packington foresees a wave of significant political resignations around the world, shocking celebrity arrests, and scandals surrounding social media influencers. That said, she did offer some largely unambiguous predictions as she claims that the tossed vegetables told her that Donald Trump would experience a "major health scare" sometime this year. She also warned that 2025 will see a mass-casualty "catastrophic event" connected to climate change.

Looking back on Packington's 2024 predictions, one would be remiss in not mentioning a fairly significant miss from the Asparamancer, who boldly predicted that the United States would have its first female president, but that it would not be Kamala Harris. When Joe Biden stepped out of the race in July, the vegetable-wielding psychic did something of a premature victory lap, though in keeping with her earlier prognostication, posited that Michelle Obama would somehow wind up in the Oval Office. Of course, this did not come to pass, suggesting that perhaps her asparagus-based predictions might best be taken with a pinch of salt.
