Video: EverR6, an android robot, conducts an orchestra in Seoul

EveR6, an android robot, tried its hand at conducting South Korea's national orchestra this past Friday night in Seoul, Reuters reported. Beginning with a polite bow to the audience, it basked in their applause before turning to conduct the orchestra with a baton, using precise movements. Created by the Korea Institute of Technology, EveR6 has a white mask-like human face and its body is positioned on a wheeled pedestal.

The orchestra's regular conductor, Choi Soo-yeoul, was impressed with the detailed movements of the robot as it controlled the tempo of the traditional Korean music. Yet, he conceded, EveR6 has a "critical weakness" in that it cannot listen. Perhaps the designers will add some working ears for EveR6 2.0!
