NASA's Ingenuity helicopter completes 50th flight on Mars

NASA's Ingenuity helicopter completed its 50th flight over the Martian surface on April 13, 2023. The space agency's rotorcraft traveled over 1,000 feet while setting an altitude record of 59 feet. The Ingenuity helicopter team plans to execute a positioning flight before the craft is sent in to explore the "Fall River Pass" region of Jezero Crater. Ingenuity took its first flight on Mars on April 19, 2021, and was expected to fly no more than five times. It has since far exceeded expectations. Check out footage of the helicopter's 47th flight in the video above.
