  YouTube is now actively banning any content that contradicts anything that the World Health Organization (WHO) with regards to the new coronavirus.

• Reflect On:

  Should people have the right to access information openly and freely and decide for themselves what is real and what is fake? Should people be able to examine sources and evidence for themselves and make their own decisions on information?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we are now living in a time where a digital authoritarian ‘fact checker’ is patrolling the internet and censoring content it deems as ‘false.’ Regardless if the content is simply a shared opinion by experts in the field or if the content is backed by credible sources, information and evidence, it is still being censored and removed by YouTube as well as other platforms on the internet like Facebook and Vimeo. Should people not have the right to examine information, check sources, and determine and decide for themselves what is real and what is fake?

It seems that any type of information that threatens political/government, corporate and other elitist agendas is heavily targeted. We here at Collective Evolution have experienced this for quite some time now. YouTube has demonetized us, and “Fact Checkers” have been all over our content, giving multiple articles ‘false’ ratings and thus limiting our page distribution and reputation on Facebook eternally. Some of these fact checkers, as well as Facebook, won’t reply to us or engage in conversation. In many cases they refuse to budge and strong-arm you into accepting their point of view. They have no tolerance for discussion, and are quite compliant in punishing alternative media outlets. This is exactly why we are concerned that our Facebook Page will be deleted, so we are encouraging all those who want to continue to receive and be able to find our content to sign up for our email list. 

You have to ask yourself, why is Julian Assange in Jail? Why is Edward Snowden in exile? And why is there so much censorship of information on the internet and why are independent media organizations, like Collective Evolution, being censored and demonetized? What’s really going on here?

When it comes to the new coronavirus, opinions are being flagged as false news as well. Dr. Ron Paul has received multiple “Fake News” strikes for sharing his opinions about the coronavirus, suggesting what Edward Snowden did, that ‘the powers that be’ are using this outbreak to impose more authoritarian measures upon the citizenry. Is this not an infringement on freedom of speech rights?

YouTube recently announced that  they will ban any coronavirus-related content that directly contradicts World Health Organization advice. According to the BBC, “The Google-owned service says it will remove anything it deems medically unsubstantiated.” Chief executive Susan Wojcicki said the media giant wanted to stamp out “misinformation on the platform.”.

Herin lies the problem, whatever they determine to be “medically unsubstantiated” is not debatable, despite the actual fact that many times, it is. The point is, they don’t give you that opportunity.  Shouldn’t information be allowed to circulate openly and freely without the intervention of a ‘fact checker’ who has the power and the ability to get rid of it and decide for the people what is real, and what is fake? What is true, and what is not true? What is worth a read or a listen, and what is not worth a read or a listen? Should that not be an individual choice?

All of these censorship measures, which continue to ramp up reflect George Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth” that he wrote about in his novel “1984.” Anybody who opposes the guidelines and information handed down from certain organizations, like the World Health Organization in this case, may come into contact or be punished by the “thought police.”

We are living in crazy times, but it’s exciting. At the end of the day, all of the censorship, banning and deleting of information by multiple internet platforms like Facebook and YouTube have only served the collective and brought more attention to much of the information that’s being banned. These platforms will use ridicule, and words like “conspiracy theory” to justify their actions instead of actually addressing information and countering the evidence that’s used to explain it. That being said, it’s not like there is not false news out there that spreads around that people believe, but there is a lot of very real information out there that is being hidden as much as possible from the public eye.

One of the most recent examples actually deals with the World Health Organization. A documentary called “trustWHO” explores the influence that the pharmaceutical industry, among others, has on the World Health Organization. It was recently banned by Vimeo. The documentary has been fact-checked and approved by lawyers, experts in the medical field and even by key executives of the WHO itself. The documentary simply investigated how efficiency and transparency of the WHO are undermined by corporate influences. You can read more about that here.

I also recently published a piece about Wikileaks regarding recent posts they made pertaining to documents they released nearly a decade ago . The documents highlight the influence that pharmaceutical companies have on health policy set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Human consciousness is changing, it’s shifting, and events like COVID-19 help facilitate this shift by changing the way people see our world and what’s really going on here. These events encourage more and more people ask questions, and not simply accept whatever we are told to accept.
