New Observations Magazine - The Pine Ridge Reservation

Founded in 1985, New Observations Magazine has been a respected member of the contemporary world of art and culture for over 35 years. Founded by artist and teacher Lucio Pozzi, the magazine has included many of the top artists and writers of the 20th and 21st century sharing their creative expression with a thoughtful audience.

In October of 2019, all back inventory of the magazine was donated to art schools, museums and libraries around the country.  Currently, MoMA and RISD are collaborating with New Observations Magazine to create a free online digital library of all previous issues.

Issue #135 "The Pine Ridge Reservation: Prison of War Camp #344" contains powerful essays from Standing Rock protest leader Chase Iron Eyes, the first Native American independent presidential candidate Mark Charles, John Fusco on his experience writing and producing the film Thunderheart, and over forty paintings by American Indian Movement political prisoner Leonard Peltier who has spent the last 44 years in a federal prison for a crime he did not commit.

New Observations Magazine is determined to shed light on controversial issues in these chaotic times we currently find ourselves. Activism has become a more prevalent focus for our contributors as we do our best to create positive change in the world.

New  Observations Magazine is a 501c3 non-profit organization.  For more information on New Observations Magazine, please contact publisher Mia Feroleto at: [email protected]
