Bus ploughs into Moscow metro subway

At least five people are reported to have died in the incident, which happened at the entrance to a Russian subway station on Christmas Day.

A bus has ploughed into passersby at the entrance to a subway station in Moscow, Russia, killing at least five people, RT reports.

A short video posted on Twitter shows the vehicle leaving the road and plunging down a series of steps leading to Slavyansky Bulvar metro station, striking several people in its path.

Authorities have confirmed that at least five people have died and at least 15 more have been injured, according to RIA Novosti.

According to witnesses, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the street at high speed. On the way, he ran over a man and then got stuck in the subway entrance.

Reports suggest the driver has been detained by authorities, but the incident is not believed to be terror-related.
