IDF launched a US Patriot missile at a drone near the border from Syria, RT reported.

Syrian state news agency, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), reported that "two Israeli missiles came down near Damascus international airport" early Tuesday.

According to DPA news agency, citing Syrian opposition sources, the attack targeted an Iranian cargo plane which was landing at the facility. However, state officials are yet to disclosed details of the attack. It also remains unknown if any missiles were intercepted or if there are any casualties or damage resulting from the attack.

"We will not allow violation of our aerial sovereignty," the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated in a press release.

“The Israelis have been assassinating, killing, occupying for decades now, for around seven decades, in this region, but usually they do all this without threatening,” Syrian leader Bashar Assad told RT in an interview last month. “Now, why do they threaten in this way? This is panic, this is a kind of hysterical feeling because they are losing the ‘dear ones,’ the dear ones Al-Nusra and ISIS, that’s why Israel is panicking recently, and we understand their feeling.”

Damascus has repeatedly denied that the Iranian military has any significant presence in Syria.

In May, Israel struck dozens of Syrian military sites after accusing Iran of launching rocket and missile attacks towards its forces in Golan Heights. Israel annexed Golan Heights in the 1967 Six-Day War.
