UK ramps up fines for using phones in cars

 Drivers face £200 fine for using their phones in cars even if they're just a passenger

A LITTLE-KNOWN rule in the Highway code update on phone use could see passengers heavily fined too.

Friday saw stringent new rules come into effect across the UK as drivers will now be fined for touching a mobile phone while behind the wheel in “virtually any circumstance.” The fine is up to £1,000 and six points on a licence.
