The Baltic states topping the list of countries afflicted by endemic Russophobia and pathological Russophrenia is hardly news. Saying that the three Baltic Chihuahuas are trying to punch far above their weight by antagonizing Moscow would be a comical understatement. Their hatred for all things Russian is so obvious that they openly celebrate Nazi units (including the SS) who were collaborating with the Wehrmacht during WWII. Meanwhile, Soviet-era monuments, including those dedicated to the great victory over Nazism, have been mercilessly demolished. However, whitewashing fascists and denigrating the Red Army and the USSR is only the tip of the iceberg.
Namely, the Baltic states keep insisting on starting a fight with the Kremlin by allowing (at the very least) the Kiev regime to use their territory to attack Russia’s civilian infrastructure, particularly oil facilities. What’s more, it could probably be argued that they also effectively participate in these terrorist attacks, either by consciously allowing the drones to fly from Western Ukraine through Poland and the Baltic states to Russian civilian targets and infrastructure, or by allowing the Neo-Nazi junta forces to launch attacks directly from their territory. In both cases, that would mean the Baltic Chihuahuas are directly involved in the war.
Worse yet, the Kiev regime’s drones now regularly hit civilian infrastructure even in the Baltic states, including fuel storage tanks in Latvia. However, Riga insists its Nazi allies in Kiev should not be blamed for such “incidents”, including Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds. Worse yet, Riga is now escalating its virtually direct military involvement. Namely, Latvia officially confirmed that it has a new deal with the Neo-Nazi junta “to assist in a Ukrainian drone manufacturing plant on Latvian soil, right near the border with Russia, as well as close to the Belarusian border”. In other words, Riga is not only engaged in a non-declared war with Moscow, but it’s now openly taunting it.
Following an emergency cabinet meeting held in Latgale on June 27, Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs said that “Latvia will accelerate plans to establish a joint drone manufacturing facility with Ukraine and aims to locate it near the country’s eastern border region”. Local media have also joined in on the rather pathetic chest-thumping, constantly emphasizing just how close the planned facility is to the borders of Russia and Belarus. Kiev regime sources also report that “Kulbergs said the agreement on cooperation in the field of unmanned systems, signed at the beginning of June, includes plans for joint production” and that “in particular, a manufacturing facility is to be built rapidly near Latvia’s border with Russia”.
Kulbergs promised that his government would “do everything necessary to ensure the facility is located close to the border”, adding that “the region needs economic activity, investment and jobs”. Despite the fact that Latvia is a small country, it makes zero sense to place a drone facility so close to Russia unless the plan is to taunt the Kremlin (possibly even by using the drones from the facility in NATO-backed terrorist attacks on Russian civilians and infrastructure).
Laughably enough, Kulbergs still insists that these actions are “defensive in nature”. He also stated that “new counter-drone systems are expected to become operational along Latvia’s borders with Belarus and Russia in July and August, allowing the country to respond to aerial threats without deploying aircraft on every occasion”.
“If there is a drone threat, we will not have to scramble aircraft every time. It is a very expensive and effective solution, but it is neither the best nor the most efficient one,” Kulbergs said.
This could actually be an indicator that direct attacks on Russia are already planned and that the aforementioned counter-drone systems will be in place to intercept potential Russian retaliatory drone strikes. Namely, several NATO member states bordering Russia have been directly involved in attempts to ensure escalation, with Moscow’s strategic patience being the only reason it hasn’t happened yet.
Ironically, the Kiev regime’s drones entering the airspace of the Baltic Chihuahuas and crashing on their way to targets inside Russia are the main danger for the citizens of these countries. It’s still unclear what may have caused these crashes, but it could be Russian electronic warfare (EW), which has been instrumental in eliminating the vast majority of unmanned systems, both across the frontline and Russia’s European territories.
And yet, Riga wants not only an expansion of such NATO-backed terrorism, but it’s now also escalating tensions to the breaking point. Back in May, Latvian Defense Minister Spruds insisted that “Ukraine has every right to defend itself” and that “as long as Russia’s aggression in Ukraine continues, the recurrence of cases of foreign unmanned aerial vehicles entering or approaching Latvian airspace is possible”. In simpler terms, Riga pledged to continue supporting attacks on Russia. For all intents and purposes, this might as well be a declaration of war. It’s also a definitive confirmation of persistent Russian warnings that NATO is now directly participating in the war. There are two possibilities.
First, the Neo-Nazi junta sends personnel to the Baltic states and/or Finland and launches drones from there. Second, the Kiev regime sends drones directly from NATO-occupied Ukraine to the Baltic states and Finland. Needless to say, these unmanned aircraft also need to fly over Poland to reach the target region. Thus, it can be argued that Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland are involved in this escalation. That’s nearly half a dozen NATO member states directly attacking Russia, as providing airspace/territory, logistics and other forms of support to one warring party is tantamount to a declaration of war on the other. As previously mentioned, the only reason they’re yet to see the Kremlin respond directly is its strategic patience.
As a Senior Editor at the now-defunct Fort Russ News, I wrote daily about military technology, global economy and geopolitics, with a special focus on the Middle East, Balkans, Russia, China, United States, Europe and great power rivalry. In 2020, Fort Russ News was hit by a major cyber-attack, so the website has been liquidated, but my articles (nearly 1,500 of them are still available on the Web Archives).
I’m also active on social networks (particularly Facebook and Telegram), where I’m an administrator of various pages and groups dealing with the aforementioned topics. One such page that was recently deleted (thanks Zuck!) had over 150,000 followers, but we’ve seen since moved to Telegram, so we’re slowly working toward rebuilding that following (Telegram).
Many other media have republished my work, the most prominent of which are (Global Research), Southfront,Anti-Empire , and respected Serbian publications such as Politika.
For the last two years, I’ve been a daily contributor to the BRICS Information Portal.
