‘Immortality herb’ may be more beneficial than green tea: "Few in the US know about it"

A plant called jiaogulan, also known as the "immortality herb," may offer big health benefits. It has been used for centuries in Asia and is now getting attention for its ability to help lower cholesterol, boost metabolism, reduce inflammation, and support longer life. Jiaogulan grows in mountain areas and is usually taken as tea or supplements.

Experts say jiaogulan works because it contains gypenosides, compounds that help the body create energy and balance blood sugar. Studies suggest it may also help lower blood pressure and even fight cancer. Dr. Michael Aziz, who uses jiaogulan himself, says drinking the tea or taking supplements can improve heart and metabolic health.

Jiaogulan is mostly safe, but some people may feel sick to their stomach or dizzy. Doctors recommend talking to a healthcare provider before trying it, especially for people who take medication or have diabetes, since it can lower blood sugar. Though not well known in the U.S., many experts believe jiaogulan could become a helpful part of a healthy routine.
