What’s your sleep animal … wolf, lion, bear or dolphin

If you’re still feeling sleepy this morning then it might be because you’re not following your perfect sleep routine.

According to Dr Micheal Breus, a sleep specialist, there are four types of sleepers: dolphins, lions, bears and wolves

Each animal needs a different kind of sleep pattern, and the key to getting the right sleep for you is to understand which one you are. So which one are you?

Dolphin

If you’re a light sleeper or someone with sleep issues such as insomnia, you might be a dolphin. Dolphins should wake around 6.30 and start the day with a work-out. They need to eat breakfast about an hour after waking up and are best suited to creative work between 10 and 12.

In the afternoon dolphins should try to take a short walk and then work on intellectually challenging tasks.

Bed time should be around 11.30, after an hour of no-screen time.

Lion

Lions tend to wake up early and be full of beans, but by the early evening they’ve totally run out of steam.

If you fall into the category then your best bet is to wake early, around 5.30, and do your planning work until 7AM. Any meetings should take place between 10 and 12.

A lion’s afternoon should be more independent work, and around 5PM is the perfect time to get some exercise.

Lion’s should get an earlier night than dolphins, with screens going off at 10 and lights out at 10.30.

Bear

You might be a bear if your sleep patterns depend on daylight, and you need a full eight hours every night.

If that sounds like you then you should be aiming to wake up at 7AM and do a few minutes work-out. Your most difficult work tasks should happen between 10 and 12.

The good doctor suggests a nap in the afternoon, so if you can manage that great (we’re not sure if our bosses would be totally on board there).

Brain storming should happen between 8PM and 10PM and you should be aiming for bed at 11PM.

Wolf

If mornings aren’t your jam, but come evening you’re on great form then you’re most likely a wolf.

Wolves should wake up between 7AM and 7:30am, using two alarms. They should have breakfast as soon as they wake up. The morning should include some outdoor exercise, planning and chores.

Lunch should be at 1pm and the afternoon should contain any creative or ideas based work. Dinner should be later than for other animals, around 8pm, and bedtime should be proceeded by a hot shower.
