New study proves benefits of a power nap

We live in a sleep deprived culture. Many of us either have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. While continual poor sleep (less than 7 hours a night) can have a detrimental effect on our health, naps can help lessen the effects.

A study by the Sorbonne in Paris found that short naps were found to reduce stress and boost the immune system. Brice Fairut, one of the study’s co-authors states, “This is the first study that found napping could restore biomarkers of neuroendocrine and immune health to normal levels.”  The data suggests that a 30 minute nap can restore the negative effects of a poor night’s sleep.
