DJ the koala's miraculous recovery
A koala rescued by police after being hit by a car and left for dead last year has been released back into the wild.
DJ the koala, a beloved patient at the Australia Zoo Wildlife hospital, was this week given a clean bill of health after a six-month rehabilitation.

DJ suffered two broken forearms and internal bleeding in the accident and only survived after being rescued by a Queensland police officer.

She had major surgery at the hospital's intensive care unit and also underwent hours of physiotherapy in the Sunshine Coast zoo's plantation area.
DJ is among the 600-800 koalas Australia Zoo's hospital treats each year for injuries from car strikes, domestic animal attacks and disease.
