Drunk raccoon passes out in Virginia liquor store bathroom after ransacking business

Workers at a Virginia liquor store had quite the clean-up on their hands over the weekend after a raccoon broke into the business, sampled several of their spirits, and ultimately passed out on the bathroom floor. The weird 'burglary, detailed in an amusing post on the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter Facebook page, occurred sometime in the overnight hours after the ABC store in Ashland had closed on Friday. Tasked with responding to the "unusual call" on Saturday morning, the department's Officer Martin arrived on the scene to find smashed liquor bottles strewn throughout the business and a surprising culprit behind the chaos: "a very intoxicated raccoon."

The post on the trash panda's drunken misadventure indicated that the officer "safely secured our masked bandit and transported him back to the shelter to sober up before questioning." Later examined for potential injuries, the mischievous critter was said to be perfectly fine "other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices." The department subsequently released the raccoon "back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer."
