Major changes at Göbekli Tepe and stunning new discovery | Megalithomania
Göbekli Tepe is being reconstructed with building works across the site. They have glued the main T-pillar of Enclosure C back together and rebuilt the wall which looks like it is covering over some of the 3D reliefs on the sides of the T-pillars. A 12,000 year old human statue was also recently found at Göbekli Tepe which was placed horizontally in a wall in the space between Enclosures B and D. In this video we look at the new discovery and ask if excavation below the walls of Enclosure C have been carried out, questioning why this is happening when over 90% of the site is left unexcavated? Wouldn’t it be better to crack into digging up the site, and to build a reconstruction of Enclosure C in Sanliurfa Museum like they have done with Enclosure D so there is no damage to the archaeology? All of us Megalithomaniacs were very concerned when we saw this in person and wondered if UNESCO are aware of this, as this is changing the site permanently and not necessarily for the better.
