Giant mummified finger from Egypt

A grave robber claimed to have found the enormous severed finger while searching through an undisclosed tomb. He also claimed to be the owner and possessed a certificate of authenticity and X-rays of the finger.

This huge mummified humanoid finger came to light in 1988. Photographs were taken and published along with the story in a European newspaper. The finger was said to be approximately 15 inches long (38 centimeters). Researchers in Egypt stated they believed the finger came from a being over 16 1/2 feet tall (5 meters). Gregor Sporri, an entrepreneur, tried to buy the finger but was turned down by the grave robber.

Sporri returned to Egypt in 2009 in an attempt to discover more information about this mummified finger and to perhaps discover where the rest of the body may be. He was unable to discover where the old man was. There was no trace of him and all traces of the finger were gone.

In a 2012 interview, Sporri gave all the details as he knew them, stating : "It was an oblong package, smelled musty. I was totally flabbergasted when I saw the dark brown giant finger. I was allowed to take it in hand and also to take pictures. A bill was put next to it to get a size comparison. The bent finger was split open and covered with dried mold."

Sporri acknowledged that the grave robber did indeed have a certificate of authenticity and an x-ray image of the finger. Both came from the 1960's.

Researchers have mixed feelings on this relic. The major problem seems to be because the finger does not fit into any conventional theories presented by archaeologists or historians.
