Israel accused of inciting radicalism and violence

Several “hit and run” incidents have targeted Palestinians in the occupied territories.

In response to a number of attacks on Palestinian children by Israeli settlers, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement slamming the “Tel Aviv regime (for) fanning the flames of radicalism and violence in the occupied territories.”

The ministry also held Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for the ongoing unrest and tension, chiding Israeli courts for not taking crimes against Palestinians seriously.

The statement also blamed the administration and religious schools run by radical rabbis for being the root causes of extremist ideologies.

In the latest incident on Thursday, an Israeli settler ran over four Palestinian children between the ages of 6 and 11, on the outskirts of the Old City of Jerusalem al-Quds, leaving them with serious injuries.

Witnesses say that the settler “deliberately rammed” his car into the group of children, the Middle East Monitor reported.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Press TV reported, said locals called an ambulance for the injured, while Israeli forces simply stood by.

The Palestinian Red Crescent crews eventually came to the scene of the attack to treat the children, before transferring them to the hospital.

The incident is one of a number of “hit and run” incidents that have targeted Palestinians in the occupied territories, with the majority remaining uninvestigated by Israeli authorities, and several resulted in fatalities.
